Home-Start South Wiltshire provides an outreach and befriending service to families with children under five throughout south Wiltshire.
We rely on donations from businesses, local government, organisations and individuals.
These enable us to support even more families in south Wiltshire who are struggling through difficult times, including loneliness and isolation, ill health, post-natal depression, disabilities, bereavement, relationship difficulties, lone-parenting and coping with several pre-school children.

Corporate / Business Funding
By providing funding, your company could make a real difference to vulnerable families and children in south wiltshire. Supporting Home-Start South Wiltshire gives a local focus for staff charitable activities and raises your profile in the community.
Local businesses could act as a sponsor or co-sponsor for a Home-Start South Wiltshire event or activity.
Your company could raise funds through sponsoring staff in organised sporting events such as the Salisbury Half Marathon or one of the many other charity runs, walks or cycle rides that take place throughout the year.
You can also encourage your employees to participate in workplace fundraising by organising events at work, such as a wine-tasting, lunch or dinner with a speaker or activity, running a Quiz Night, or organising sales of goods such as home-made crafts and Christmas gifts. Companies may wish to match fundraising and double whatever employees raise.
You could help us by donating Raffle or Auction prizes, donating goods such as toys (for children aged 0 -5) or office equipment such as printers, ink cartridges and paper.
One-off monetary donations are of course particularly welcome or these could be in the form of a proportion of income or profit for a certain period, or a regular gift by Standing order.

Want to Volunteer
Who would I help?
Volunteers support local families facing a variety of difficulties, including loneliness and isolation; ill health; post-natal depression; disabilities; bereavement; relationship difficulties; lone-parenting and coping with several pre-school children.
If you have children and a few hours to spare each week, your experience could make a difference to a family who has at least one child under five years old. By visiting a family in their own home and offering friendship, Home-Start South Wiltshire volunteers represent a lifeline for many families who are finding it hard to cope.
Would I be the right sort of person to support a family?
Home-Start South Wiltshire volunteers are all ages and from all walks of life. All that we ask of you is that you have experience of bringing up children, that you attend our Preparation Course and can spare between two and three hours a week to visit someone.
What would visiting a family involve?
After training, we ask that you commit to spending 2-3 hours with your Home-Start South Wiltshire family each week. You might be with a new parent, helping to build their confidence as they adapt to life with a small baby, or sharing an outing with a family who finds getting out of the house difficult. The visits might involve offering an extra pair of hands to a family with several children or providing a listening ear to a mother who is suffering from postnatal depression.
Being a Home-Start South Wiltshire volunteer means offering friendship to parents and spending time with a family in a way that meets their needs (reasonable out of pocket expenses are paid). (Read our support and friendship for families…a guide to volunteering for Home-Start leaflet)
